The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board says affected intending pilgrims must submit the required documents by 26 October to facilitate payment.
The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has concluded arrangements to refund excess deposits to 500 intending pilgrims who paid ₦8 million each towards the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage.
Each eligible pilgrim is entitled to a refund of ₦327,178 following the announcement of the final Hajj fare of ₦7,672,822.
The board’s Director-General, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, disclosed this in Kano, according to a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman A. Dederi.
He said the refunds would cover pilgrims who initially paid the higher deposit before the final cost of the pilgrimage was announced.
The board has urged all affected pilgrims to submit the necessary documents through their respective Local Government Hajj Centre officers to facilitate the refund process.
The required documents include bank account details, a photocopy of the original payment receipt and a formal letter requesting a refund.
The board has set Monday, 26 October 2026, as the deadline for submitting the documents to enable the commencement of payments.
Matawalle commended the Kano State Government for its continued support and contribution to the welfare of intending pilgrims.
The announcement comes as preparations continue for the 2027 Hajj, with the board urging eligible pilgrims to comply with the deadline to avoid delays in receiving their refunds.
