The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has extended an open invitation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to leave the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and join the ruling party, in what it describes as a gesture of unity and renewed partnership for the state’s development.
The invitation was announced on Tuesday by Kano APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, who spoke on behalf of former governor and ex-national chairman of the APC, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Abbas said the door of the APC remained wide open to Governor Yusuf, stressing that political collaboration rather than rivalry would better serve the interests of the people of Kano.
“The APC is ready to receive Governor Abba Yusuf with open arms so that, together, we can combine our strengths for the progress of the state,” he stated.
The call marks a significant political overture amid ongoing tensions between both parties following last year’s fiercely contested governorship election.
As of the time of filing this report, Governor Yusuf had not issued a formal response to the invitation.
