Fegho John Umunubo has broken his silence after his sudden dismissal as Special Assistant on Digital and Creative Economy to President Bola Tinubu, in the Office of the Vice President.
The Presidency, in a statement issued on Monday by Abiodun Oladunjoye, Director of Information and Public Relations at the State House, confirmed that Umunubo’s disengagement was approved with immediate effect.
While no official reason was given for the decision, the statement warned stakeholders and the public against engaging with Umunubo in any capacity on behalf of the government.
“Stakeholders and constituents of the digital and creative economy, at home and abroad, as well as the general public are hereby notified that Fegho John Umunubo, who hitherto served as the Special Assistant to the President on Digital and Creative Economy (Office of the Vice President), has been disengaged with immediate effect,” the statement read.
The announcement came only days after Umunubo had publicly reaffirmed his loyalty to Vice President Kashim Shettima and the Tinubu administration, urging Nigerians to rally behind the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Taking to Instagram shortly after the news broke, Umunubo shared a screenshot of the official release with a defiant caption:
“It has been my honour to serve this country and the Creative Industry. Now I am free to fly.”
