Governors Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and Agbu Kefas of Taraba State were notably absent from the ongoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention taking place in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
The convention, held amid significant internal party crises, proceeded despite two court rulings opposing the exercise. The faction led by Umar Damagum relied on a recent judgment from the Oyo State High Court to move forward with the event.
As the convention commenced, Daily Trust reporters observed the attendance of several governors, including Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), and the host, Seyi Makinde (Oyo).
The conspicuous absence of Governors Adeleke and Kefas adds to the ongoing challenges within the PDP as the party seeks to unify ahead of upcoming political contests.
