The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has delivered food items and medical supplies worth millions of naira to the Plateau State Government, following the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area.

NEMA Director-General, Zubaida Umar, made the donation on Friday in Jos, where she also came to commiserate with Governor Caleb Mutfwang and the people of Plateau over the deadly gunmen attack.

Represented by Adebiyi Razaq, NEMA’s Zonal Coordinator for the North Central Zone, Umar said the agency was at the Government House to hand over relief items and medications from the federal government to support victims of the incident.

According to the Director-General, the intervention is part of the federal government’s commitment to providing timely assistance to those affected by the attack.

“This tragic incident has caused immense unrest, fear, suffering, and loss to the people of the state. We stand in solidarity with you, the affected communities, and the state government,” she said. “NEMA remains committed to providing humanitarian assistance in times of crisis.”

Umar prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and for comfort to the bereaved families. She reaffirmed NEMA’s readiness to work with the state government in providing relief and supporting recovery efforts for victims of crises and disasters.

Receiving the items, Governor Mutfwang commended NEMA for its support in providing succour to the victims. He assured that the relief materials would be distributed transparently to those directly affected, regardless of religion or ethnicity.

“As a government, we always look out for the vulnerable, and we will not allow what belongs to them to be hijacked,” the governor said.

He also assured the NEMA Director-General of the state’s partnership with the agency to provide hope and relief to those who are disadvantaged or whose lives have been disrupted by crises and disasters.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the relief items—including bags of rice and beans, cartons of spaghetti, vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, tomato paste, detergents, dignity kits, mattresses, clothing, and essential medications—were delivered to help alleviate the suffering of the victims.
