Veteran Afro-pop pioneer, Innocent ‘2Face’ Idibia, has waded into the perennial debate surrounding the legacies of Afrobeat progenitor Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and contemporary global star Wizkid.

Speaking during a recent appearance on the *Mic On Podcast*, the “African Queen” crooner described the comparison between the two icons as “ridiculous,” arguing that it does a disservice to both artists’ unique contributions to music.

“It’s disrespectful to Fela, and at the same time unfair to Wizkid,” Idibia stated. He emphasized that the two artists represent different eras of Nigerian music history, each with distinct social and cultural impacts.

While acknowledging Wizkid’s monumental success in the modern era, Idibia maintained that Fela’s legacy exists in a stratosphere of its own, urging fans and critics to celebrate both artists on their own merits rather than pitting them against each other.
