From Beneu,Kwara,Kogi,Nasarawa, Plateau and even the FCT Abuja can not shy away from the fact that it has not been touched by one form of insurgency leading to deterred development and instability of peace.
Insecurity as abysmal as it has affected the social advancement of the people in the north Central Nigeria whose major engagement aside civil service is farming this venture have been hampered by the ceaseless invasions of strange elements that are coined with different names as herders,unknown gun men ,militias and Fulani attackers,which are unnecessarily hype in political light with faint intervention to nip it in the bud
While all these lasted, governors in the North Central geopolitical region have a task of ending this menace if they truly would be distance from a public suspicion that brief” government is in the know and benefitting from any crisis” this belief is in follower ship of late General Sani Abacha’s philosophy which had it that ” For any unrest lasting for more than 24 hours ,government has a hand in it” While this has not been proven wrong as said, the north central governors especially under our present day Democratic practice where citizens are expecting advance dispensing of the dividend of democracy.
To underscored the efforts put together by these governors, in Kogi State youth unrest and clashes have under Governor Ododo have come to a stand still ,giving his recent pragmatism insolving poverty and esteeming the needs of kogi citizens. Kwara State has in recent times experienced relative peace for the past two years ,giving the incumbent governor Abdulrahaman an edge in governance.
Benue State can not be exempted of tribulation caused by Fulani herdsmen ,leading to poor agriculture production in the passed but this has been stamped down under the present administration of governor Hycient Alia who is working frantically to restored disability of over Ten years.
Although Pateau could be said to have gain a level of stability in security but knocks and corners are still undergoing silent killing and activities of bandatries ,governor Caleb Manassish Mutfwang need to stand tall and withal the scurge at Wase ,Mangu and Bokkos to earn credit as protector of citizens rights and freedom
Consequently, in Nasarawa State the ,governor Abdullahi Sule, have demonstrated a level of pragmatism in curbing insecurity but his effort is not enough giving to the influx of miners from other parts of West African region and the connectivity of the Chinese who have taken over the resources of Nasarawa State leaving indigenes at the mercy of their heritage .Udege is a typical example where despite it’s natural resources and the establishment of mega mining companies in the area are impoverished .
Recently , the crisis in that area inspite of government ability in setting up an investigative panel to unearth the cause of the crisis,no just solution has been reaching,until Governor Sule redefined the government stand on what is to be realistically generated as revenue to the state in fair and equitable allocation that can directly improve the lives of both the citizens and investors.
Beneu State May have had some challenges with Fulani herders grazing on their land the only solution to the unbridle up raise is the avoidance of compromise by a faction of the indigenous Benue citizens.
The incumbent governor of the state need consider that as much as grass and pasturing is concern, the Fulani animals need feed as much as spear the crops ,as such allowing a grazing land for Fulani in Benue State must be created .
Similarly , in Plateau State the politics of ownership of the land and the conqueror system has turned out to be the highest idol which has always become the historic war in the state.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang in his new government has tackled this to larger extend especially that the usual upraised recorded in the past has been managed in places as Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Mangu LGAs, has been minimally restored.Not with standing ,rhe government of plateau state need admit that the fulanis deserved respect.
Give and take ,the governor’s of the North Central states should meet ,take a decisive decision on how best to tacking insecurity by organizing a stakeholders meting to discuss a way forward without politicizing the issue.
They most have a deliberate account and policy on settling the disputes within their region.A conscious interest in safe guarding their people far above defending their political and religious affinity.
