A leading figure of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Farouk Aliyu, has urged National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu not to wade into the war of words between former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai and Labour Party’s 2023 vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, over the nation’s security crisis.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, the former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives cautioned Ribadu against being dragged into what he described as “political exchanges.”
“I beg my brother, Nuhu Ribadu — he should not join issues with Nasir El-Rufai or Datti Baba-Ahmed. He is above that. Let him stay out and allow others to talk politics,” Aliyu said.
While admitting that insecurity remains a national challenge, Aliyu warned against politicising such a sensitive matter. He criticised El-Rufai’s approach, recalling the ex-governor’s infamous rhetoric of “killing them all,” which he argued proved both impractical and ineffective.
“He was governor for eight years. Tell me, between his tenure and now, what has improved in terms of insecurity? The way he advocated that everyone be killed didn’t work. This government does not negotiate with terrorists, but it is still taking steps to address the crisis,” he added.
