Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has stated that the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is “temporarily over” following the exit of some members whom he referred to as “buccaneers and vampires.”

During a recent media chat, Wike said he refused to leave the PDP, a party he has “done everything for,” because he did not want to leave it in the hands of these individuals.

He suggested that if he had left, these “buccaneers and vampires” would have remained in the party and “taken over” to secure the presidential ticket.

Wike’s comments came in the context of the recent defections of some PDP members, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He accused Atiku of being obsessed with getting a presidential ticket and of consistently moving to different parties when he is unable to secure the ticket he desires.

While Wike believes the crisis is “over for now,” he also stated that there are still some unresolved issues, particularly concerning the outcome of the South-South Zonal Congress, which he insists must be upheld to avoid another round of conflict within the party.
