The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), Abuja chapter celebrated its 25th anniversary today with a landmark event themed “25 Years of Championing Corporate Governance: Reflecting on Legacy, Reinforcing the Future.”
The keynote address was delivered on behalf of the national coordinator Engr. Dr Ibiam Oguejiofo by the Head of the Engineering and Emerging Technologies Service Team at the Strategy Implementation Task Office for Presidential Executive Order No. 5 (SITOPEO5), Engr. Dr Patricks Oghuma who harped on the enduring impact of the Abuja chapter in advancing corporate governance, ethical leadership and professional excellence over the years.
He highlighted the chapter’s journey from its founding vision to becoming a trusted reference point for corporate governance, company law, public sector administration and ethical business leadership.
“Today, we do not merely mark the passage of time. We celebrate legacy. We celebrate the progress of a professional community anchored on the pillars of integrity, excellence and good governance,” he stated. He emphasized on the Celebration of Legacy: Recognition of founding members and past leaders who established ICSAN Abuja as a beacon of governance at the nation’s policy center;
National Impact: The Chapter’s contributions through advisory memoranda, partnerships with regulators and nurturing of professionals who have elevated governance discourse across Nigeria;
Future Readiness: A call to embrace technology, deepen public sector engagement, mentor young professionals and lead with courage in upholding ethics, inclusion and sustainability;
Vision Forward: Reaffirmation that chartered secretaries and administrators are not merely compliance custodians but strategic advisers, risk managers and stewards of accountability in both public and private sectors. He expressed gratitude to the founders, past leaders, current members and future leadership urging them to continue writing the next chapter of ICSAN Abuja with courage, integrity and excellence
The event brought together distinguished fellows, past presidents, chapter leaders, associates, students, and guests all united in celebrating the chapter’s legacy and reaffirming its role in shaping Nigeria’s governance landscape.
The Abuja chapter was established in 2000 as the capital city branch of ICSAN, the leading professional body dedicated to the promotion of effective corporate governance and administration in Nigeria.
For 25 years, ICSAN Abuja chapter has served as a hub for governance excellence, providing training, advocacy and professional development for members across public and private sectors. Its mission is to uphold integrity, accountability and transparency in organizational leadership while equipping chartered secretaries and administrators to serve as strategic advisers, compliance experts and custodians of corporate values.
