Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has declared that he cannot guarantee the safety of individuals or groups visiting the state without his prior knowledge.
In a statement released on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia strongly advised those contemplating such visits to reconsider their plans for their own safety and security.
The governor also directed that anyone intending to visit Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps within Benue State must first obtain written permission from the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA).
The statement, titled “Notice Regarding Unscheduled Visit to Benue State,” explained that the Governor is currently engaged in crucial meetings with key state figures to address critical issues affecting the state.
Therefore, he cautioned against any group or high-profile individual attempting to enter Benue for visits that could lead to political gatherings without prior authorization.
The statement further emphasized the need for individuals and groups planning IDP camp visits to seek and receive written approval from BSEMA.
Governor Alia urged security agencies and the public to take note of this announcement and to uphold peace and order throughout the state.
