Prominent Islamic scholar, Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi, has expressed serious concerns about the alleged activities of Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, in Nigeria. In a statement shared via his social media, Gumi warned that this development could pave the way for the secretive targeting and possible assassination of key Muslim leaders across the country.

Gumi’s alarm stems from a broader fear that the Israeli intelligence agency’s presence in Nigeria could stir unrest within the Muslim community. He made a pointed reference to the tragic death of former Nigerian military leader, General Sani Abacha, alleging that the general was poisoned following a meeting with the late Palestinian leader, Yasir Arafat, in Abuja.

“How could a genocidal apartheid government have such a significant presence in our country?” Gumi questioned in his post, highlighting what he views as a dangerous collaboration that could harm the political and social stability of Nigeria.

In his statement, Gumi also directed a strong warning at President Bola Tinubu, suggesting that any form of cooperation with Mossad could lead to grave consequences for the country’s leadership. He cautioned that President Tinubu was being “ill-advised” and that such a collaboration could cost the president more than he might gain.

Gumi’s warning comes amid a growing tension surrounding foreign intelligence operations in Nigeria and their possible influence on local politics and security.
