Former Gombe State Governor, Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo, has said the Peoples Democratic Party remains firmly rooted in the state and is ready to reclaim power across Nigeria.
Speaking during an extended PDP stakeholders’ meeting in Gombe, Dankwambo told party leaders, lawmakers and grassroots loyalists that the state would continue to stand with the PDP despite the political winds.
“I am convinced beyond any doubt that Gombe is and remains the PDP’s stronghold. What we saw at this meeting shows the kind of unity and loyalty that built this party,” he said.
The meeting followed the PDP’s recent National Executive Committee gathering in Abuja and was aimed at reviving support ahead of the next general elections.
Dankwambo urged old and inactive members to return and rebuild with the party. “To those who left due to disagreements or disappointment, we say come home. This is your party. Your experience and your energy are still needed.”
He said the PDP had proven itself in government and deserved another opportunity. “We have governed with transparency, professionalism and fear of God. We will do even better if given another chance.”
The senator also commended security agencies and the media for their role in ensuring the meeting was peaceful and open.
In a message to Nigerians, especially young voters, Dankwambo said the country was at a turning point and needed serious leadership.
“This is the time to stand together. Let us unite to rebuild our country. PDP is prepared to lead that future with sincerity and courage,” he said.
