A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State to immediately terminate all appointments made during the tenure of former Sole Administrator, Ibok-Ette Ibas.

Eze, who previously served as the National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), issued the demand after Governor Fubara’s return to the Rivers State Government House on Friday, following a six-month suspension imposed by President Bola Tinubu. During Fubara’s absence, Ibas took over the state’s leadership, making several key appointments, which Eze now argues should be dismissed as illegal.

“I expect the Governor to sack all the appointees of the illegal Sole Administrators,” Eze stated. He emphasized that Fubara should assert his authority and ensure that no one is imposed on him as a Commissioner or aide. Eze also expressed confidence that former Governor Nyesom Wike had pledged not to engage in such acts of imposition.

In addition to the calls for reshuffling, Eze also urged for healing within the Rivers State Assembly, suggesting that members who either resigned or worked with Fubara should be reintegrated into the fold. This, he believes, is crucial for peace and unity within the state.

The APC chieftain further highlighted the need for the federal government’s intervention to guarantee both the political stability and security of Governor Fubara, particularly concerning possible attempts to impeach him. “The Governor must be assured that he is not set up for further embarrassment by any moves from the State Assembly,” Eze said.

Should assurances not be given, Eze warned that Governor Fubara may need to fully exercise his authority as the elected leader of Rivers State.

In related news, discussions continue to swirl around Fubara’s six-month absence, and its lasting impact on governance and the state’s political climate.

The nation awaits the next move from both Fubara and key political figures in Rivers as the political landscape remains charged.
