Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North Senatorial District, has lauded the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for its ongoing economic reforms, describing the bank’s current trajectory as courageous and necessary for national growth.

Speaking during an interactive session between the Senate Committee on Finance and the President’s economic team in Abuja, Oshiomhole—a known critic of the apex bank at the inception of the current administration—expressed a significant shift in his perspective. He noted that the results of the bank’s policies have turned him into a “marketer” of the CBN’s vision.

“I was one of those who were very critical when you were appointed, but today, I am one of your marketers,” the Senator stated. He further urged the CBN leadership to remain steadfast, adding, “You must sustain those tools and not be influenced by politics. You should be guided by pure economic logic.”

The commendation followed a detailed presentation by the Deputy Governor (Economic Policy), Dr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi, who represented the CBN Governor, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso. Dr. Abdullahi outlined how the bank’s strategic interventions have begun to moderate food and headline inflation while fostering exchange rate stability.

Reiterating the Bank’s goal of achieving single-digit inflation, Dr. Abdullahi emphasized the importance of the strengthened coordination between fiscal and monetary authorities as a cornerstone for long-term economic stability.
