Former Anambra State Governor and immediate past Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, has been arrested in Abuja.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is currently holding Ngige.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement released on Wednesday night by his former media aide, Fred Chukwulobe, who sought to quell online rumors suggesting Ngige had been kidnapped.
Chukwulobe’s statement read: “Former Governor of Anambra State and immediate past minister of labour and employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, is with the EFCC. More details later.”
The reason for Ngige’s arrest by the anti-graft agency has not yet been disclosed.
Ngige was recently in the news after his convoy was attacked by armed men in Anambra State, though he was not in the vehicle at the time.
