Nigerian Afrobeats star, Oxlade, has credited fellow artiste Fireboy DML as the major influence behind his growth as a songwriter and music composer, saying the YBNL signee helped shape his creative direction at a crucial point in his career.

Speaking during a recent livestream hosted by popular content creator Shank Comics, Oxlade reflected on his early journey into mainstream music and the impact Fireboy had on his development.

“I learnt how to properly compose music from Fireboy,” he said. “He was miles ahead of me when we met. His pen game is something else nobody in the industry is touching him when it comes to songwriting.”

Oxlade, best known for hits like Kulosa and O2, said Fireboy didn’t just inspire him, but actively guided him through a defining phase of his musical career.

“He was part of my transition into making proper music before I started doing my own thing,” Oxlade revealed. “Him putting me on was life-changing.”
