FG Expands Basic Education Curriculum to Include Practical Skills like Hairstyling, Makeup etc.

The Federal Government has announced a significant expansion of the basic education curriculum to include 15 new practical skills, including hairstyling, plumbing, GSM repair, and makeup.
This move, part of ongoing economic reforms, aims to equip students with valuable vocational skills and enhance their employability prospects.
The new subjects, which will be introduced in primary and junior secondary schools nationwide starting January 2025, include:

  • Plumbing
  • Tiling and Floor Works
  • POP Installation
  • Event Decoration and Management
  • Bakery and Confectioneries
  • Hairstyling
  • Makeup
  • Interior Design
  • GSM Repairs and Satellite/TV Antenna Installation
  • CCTV and Intercom Installation and Maintenance
  • Solar Installation and Maintenance
  • Garment Making
  • Agriculture and Processing (including crop production, beekeeping, horticulture, poultry, and rabbit rearing)
  • Basic Digital Literacy (including IT and Robotics)
    The National Orientation Agency (NOA) stated that this curriculum enhancement is a crucial step towards providing students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for both academic and professional success in the 21st century.
