A chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Buba Galadima, has alleged that former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi is coordinating a seven-member group drawn from different opposition parties to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Galadima made the claim on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he discussed efforts by opposition parties to build a strategy ahead of the 2027 election.
According to him, the opposition parties cannot legally field a single presidential candidate under one platform, and should therefore adopt a strategy that allows several candidates to contest the election before rallying behind one of them.
He said the arrangement could ultimately produce a candidate capable of defeating President Tinubu at the polls.
Galadima did not provide further details about the identities of the other members of the alleged seven-man group or the specific role Fayemi is playing in coordinating them.
The allegation comes as opposition parties and political figures intensify discussions over possible alliances and strategies ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
