The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered a significant setback following the official resignation of Hon. Abdullahi Hussaini MaiBasira, a former National Financial Secretary and one of the party’s most consistent young leaders.

MaiBasira’s departure marks the end of an era for the influential politician, who rose through the party ranks to serve in two key roles within the National Working Committee (NWC). His resignation, dated December 22, 2025, was formally addressed to the PDP Chairman of Tudun Wada South Ward in Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State. The letter was submitted and acknowledged by the Ward Chairman, Mallam Attahiru, on Monday.

In his resignation letter, MaiBasira reflected on his extensive tenure within the party, expressing deep gratitude to the PDP leadership for the opportunities afforded him over the years. Notably, he highlighted his service as National Youth Leader and later as National Financial Secretary. Known as a bridge-builder between the party’s youth wing and elder stakeholders, MaiBasira’s tenure at the Wadata Plaza national headquarters was distinguished by his efforts to promote fiscal transparency within the party’s administration.

While the letter was explicit about his departure from the PDP, it did not disclose his immediate political intentions. MaiBasira refrained from indicating his next political move
