Former Big Brother Naija housemate Anto Lecky has opened up about the challenges she faced after leaving the reality show, addressing negative perceptions about women participants.
Speaking at a public event, Anto revealed that many people assume women on the show seek only fame or use it to trade their bodies. “Many years ago, everyone had this idea that people that go on Big Brother, especially women, are going there to sell themselves—and I don’t mean professionally, literally sell themselves,” she explained.
Anto described encountering judgment and doubts about her intelligence and professional capability when entering corporate spaces. She shared, “When I go into rooms, people might recognise me but still give me that look of doubt. It’s something I have accepted; I don’t cry about it.”
Despite the bias, she encouraged young women to focus on developing skills, talents, and education. “Your skills, your talents, your education, what you can do—that is what you have to focus on,” Anto advised.
She urged her audience not to be discouraged by setbacks, reminding them that “someone out there is looking for the skills that you have” and encouraging continuous learning and growth.
Anto emphasised the importance of persistence, self-belief, and finding communities where talents are valued. “There will be the day that someone will see your CV and they’ll be rushing to you,” she said.
