The purpose of human existence is a glimmer mystery to mankind but a well defined phase by the creator of the world. For every man sojourning under the sun, it is for a purpose and identifying the purpose of life is a continuous process. Engr Aminu Abubakar Suleiman (AAS) has continued to showcase the apogee of philanthropy in all his sojourn on earth with special intents to touch lives beyond race, politics or ethnicity. This mission has carved a niche for him in the heart of many thus he can easily be referred as the man of the people.

It is not a crime in this clime to positively reach out to the downtrodden but so many men and women of affluence scarcely nurse the mindsets of giving back to the society. Rather, these class of self acclaimed men of calibre and lame honour prefer to steal the show on rare occasions when compelled to donate funds especially in public assembly to earn the undeserving applaud of hapless observers. In sharp contrast to this age long trend, AAS is a silent achiever with the highest philanthropic flair far above his contemporaries yet opt to coordinate his passion to give on a low key. His personal inclination to ameliorate the plights of the oppressed is attested in many quarters measuring an impeccable antecedents of soaring feat in this milieu.

Engr Aminu is a technocrat who has garnered uncommon international and national honors in line of duties and in terms of educational attainments. As a professional Quantity Surveyor this humility personified gem is not tired of learning. Interestingly, his unreserved passion for education recently spurred his intentions to enrol at the prestigious University of Oxford, England to bag another certificate of excellence. It is also worthy of note that AAS has continued to grow in character and learning and one of his guiding principles is not centered on gifting people fishes but teaching people how to fish with zero trace of payback or reward; AAS is not a giver of Greek gift. As a firm reformer who understand the pain of the masses, this game changer has continued to touch lives beyond borders despite his busy schedules. This penchant earnestly paved way for his ambition to serve his people when he contested in 2019 to govern Kogi state under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Tactfully, AAS first political adventure recorded a bright success. Even though it was his first outing, his electoral position at the PDP conducted primary election amazed his contenders. He also displayed the rarest spirit of a dogged fighter who beliefs in politics without sentiments by supporting the winner of the primaries in the general election. Unlike the conventional Nigerian politician, he was not tempted to drag his party or opponent to court over any rancour rather he campaigned massively for his opponent and also tasked his supporters to do same. This is a rare spirit of sportsmanship, selflessness and profound humility.

Away from politics, Engr Aminu has continued to display unwavering spirit of national unity by building greater bridges of patriotism to national course. His determination to change the narratives of unhealthy politics in Kogi state and Nigeria at large formed the bulk of cardinal objectives that triggered his political sojourn of which he is poised never to relent until the needful is effected. AAS is a staunch believer of non violence political interference borrowing from his consistent admonitions, “there is no sense fighting yourselves in the name of politics”. He is an intellectual peacemaker worthy of emulation and tremendous accolades.

In the 21st century global assessment of politics, success in business or private ownership is relative to political achievements and selfless service to humanity. In other words, successful business managers are reputably accountable, great achievers and game changers whenever they are opportune to occupy elective offices. To this end, it is unfortunate to assert the least; Engr Aminu Abubakar Suleiman is the best Governor Kogi state never had. While it is not too late to be elected to serve, it is tagged “unfortunate” to under score the rudiments of politics especially on this part of the globe where leadership position is scarcely attained on the altars of meritocracy.

Far from AAS philanthropic posture, he has importantly proven over time to be a resourceful manager of people and trust. His character and charisma should be studied by political researchers in order to redefine political interplay in Nigeria. It is better to be governed by technocrats who are in tune with development than to subscribe the disorderliness of political neophytes with stenchy flair to amass wealth to the detriment of the poor masses often oppressed to succumb. This is far from the leadership style of Engr Aminu.

AAS is one of the biggest asset of nation building and it is proactive to endorse his spirit of practical realism as a first guide to save the masses from periodic clamour owing to apparent lack and disaffection. This is a call to serve. The leadership acumen of Engr Aminu Abubakar Suleiman is the best therapy to cure political disharmony, recklessness and acrimony.
