Former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai has called on all eligible residents of the state to register with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring that the party aims to stage a major political upset similar to the 2015 elections.
Speaking during a mobilisation drive, El-Rufai urged citizens aged 18 and above to “come out en masse” and sign up with the ADC, saying Kaduna voters had a “historic opportunity” to reshape the state’s political direction.
He reflected on the events of 2015, when the then-opposition succeeded in unseating the long-ruling PDP administration. Although using fiery language to criticise past governments, El-Rufai framed his appeal as a call for political participation and accountability.
“We contributed to bringing them into office,” he said. “We therefore have a duty to contribute to sending them back home.”
The former governor encouraged residents to engage actively in the democratic process, insisting that voter organisation and party registration would determine electoral outcomes in future polls.
The ADC has recently intensified its recruitment efforts in Kaduna State, positioning itself as a growing alternative in what is expected to be a fiercely contested political landscape ahead of the next election cycle.
