Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has received a significant endorsement from his political appointees ahead of the 2026 governorship race. On Thursday, members of his cabinet, including Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), Special Assistants (SAs), and Technical Assistants (TAs), donated a total of N10 million to purchase the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest form for their principal.
The aides, who gathered in Ado Ekiti to present the cheque, expressed that their contribution was motivated by a shared commitment to the governor’s policies, particularly in infrastructure development, human capital growth, and economic progress.
Speaking on behalf of the donors, Tope Olanipekun, Senior Special Assistant on Strategy, praised the governor for his leadership and transparency. “Governor Oyebanji has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a clear dedication to the welfare of Ekiti people. This is why we are rallying behind his second-term bid. Our support is a reflection of our confidence in his ability to sustain good governance,” Olanipekun remarked.
The APC has set the price for the Expression of Interest form at N10 million and the Nomination form at N40 million, with sales scheduled to start on August 26. Olanipekun added that the aides’ decision to cover the Expression of Interest form’s cost was aimed at affirming the widespread support the governor enjoys, following over 300 endorsements from various groups across the state.
Governor Oyebanji, represented by his Chief of Staff, Niyi Adebayo, expressed his gratitude for the aides’ generosity. He described the donation as more than just financial support—it was a testament to the collective responsibility for Ekiti’s future.
“This gesture speaks volumes about the shared vision we have for the state,” the governor said.
He also called on his supporters to take their commitment a step further by mobilizing citizens to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
“The only way to ensure that your voice is heard is by voting. This is the foundation of our democracy,” he urged.
