Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has declared former humanitarian affairs minister Sadiya Umar Farouq wanted over allegations of abuse of office and diversion of public funds.
In a notice published by the commission, the EFCC called on members of the public with information regarding her whereabouts to contact its offices through official channels provided by the agency.
Farouq, who previously served as minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development under former President Muhammadu Buhari, is facing scrutiny as investigations into the handling of public funds during her tenure intensify.
The development marks a significant escalation in the probe, adding to growing anti-corruption efforts targeting former public officials in Nigeria.
The EFCC has yet to disclose further details on the specific transactions or sums involved in the allegations.
