The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a medical doctor suspected of supplying drugs to kidnappers operating in parts of Kwara State. The doctor was intercepted in the Jebba area of Moro Local Government Area following intelligence reports linking him to the supply of medical supplies to bandits.
According to sources close to the DSS, the kidnappers have reportedly been seeking medical treatment for gunshot wounds sustained during confrontations with security forces. The arrested doctor is believed to have been ferrying drugs from Sokoto State to these criminal hideouts to aid in their medical care.
A DSS official, speaking anonymously, advised heightened security measures in health facilities located in dense forest areas prone to kidnappers’ activities. He further disclosed that the investigation into the doctor’s role is ongoing and that full interrogation has commenced to uncover the extent of his involvement and potential broader networks.
“We have made significant progress in identifying individuals involved in providing medical aid to kidnappers,” the source said. “We expect to complete the interrogation soon, after which the doctor may be arraigned in court.”
The DSS remains committed to dismantling all support systems that enable criminal networks and urges the public to remain vigilant.
