Killings ,maiming and assault has now became part of activities at Uke Gold Mining Site, where each passing week one or two persons lost their lives to brutal means or from a collapse mining pit.
A recent report reaching this medium had it that majority of the miners are not certified miners but illegally operating on the site even though with the knowledge of some community heads in the area.
Checks by our correspondent unearth some mysteries at the gold mining site ,first is ,the site is a hide out for hoodlums who from sighting them are non Nigerians and without proper migration clearance documents .
Secondly , the area is filtrated with sodomist character where promiscuity is the order of the day especially in the night. excavation of gold which would have been the primary venture at the site has been overwhelmed by heinous activities that poise a threat to residents of the area.
One of the miner who spoke on condition of anonymity said the game at play on the site is that of survival for the fittest “If you succeed in getting the gold, you are better be careful or you are at risk of any kind,because is either you quickly find a way of disposing it and be safe.And at that point we are often exploited by the buyers just to survive.
Further investigation reveals that majority of those mining are persons without official certification as such the activities ongoing at the site is not control by authority and the security of the area is very porous.
A source also disclosed that the gold in the area can be within 1grames to 2 grames in a particular sole ” So must of the death that occurred in that place is as a result of jealousy and greed.
” The place is growing into a dangerous community that if left unchecked may lead to a bigger threat not only to Uke but could escalate into near by villages like Karshi and Takalafiya .Already foreigners from Burkina Faso , Niger and Gabon have taken over activities in the mining pits” He disclosed.
