Hon. Abdussamad Dasuki, the current representative for Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency, has announced he will not seek re-election to the House of Representatives in 2027. He described the decision as a personal sacrifice to create space for younger Nigerians to assume leadership roles.
Since 2011, Dasuki has served in the State House of Assembly, the House of Representatives, and the State Executive Council, sponsoring bills and initiatives aimed at improving security, empowering youth and women, and promoting development across his constituency and the nation.
In a statement, he said the decision was guided by conscience, consultation with his team and family, and a commitment to the Future Is Now Project, a youth advocacy initiative he helped launch. The project calls for meaningful inclusion of young Nigerians in governance, including a target for 70% of House of Representatives seats to be held by those under 40. Having surpassed that age threshold himself, Dasuki said stepping aside was necessary to give credibility to the initiative.
He assured constituents he will remain active in championing education, youth empowerment, and women’s development, and will continue to support policies for the good of his community, state, and country.
Dasuki expressed gratitude to his political mentor, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and to his constituents for their trust and support, urging young Nigerians to take up leadership roles with courage, integrity, and vision.
He concluded: “Serving you has been the greatest honour of my life. God bless our youth, Kebbe/Tambuwal, Sokoto State, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
