The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced the immediate resumption of petrol sales in naira, following intervention by the chairman of the Naira-for-Crude Technical Committee.

In a notice to customers on Saturday titled “Resumption of DPRP PMS Naira Sales”, the refinery confirmed that orders for petrol can now be placed in naira, both for self-collection and free delivery nationwide.

The company had earlier suspended naira sales, citing unsustainable allocations under the naira-for-crude scheme, sparking fears of a petrol price hike. The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) had warned that a shift to dollar-only sales would drive up costs for consumers.

The resumption is expected to ease pressure on the market and provide relief to customers and stakeholders.

The move also aligns with government policy requiring crude oil to be sold to local refineries in naira, with refined products likewise made available in naira to the domestic market.
