The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘B’, Kaduna, has seized 250 bags of foreign parboiled rice ingeniously concealed inside a DAF fuel tanker. The vehicle was intercepted along the Yauri-Kontagora Road in Kebbi State, following credible intelligence.
According to Acting Comptroller AM Alkali, the tanker was escorted to Kaduna Tuesday 5 August, 2025, where a thorough physical examination uncovered the contraband. The duty paid value of the seized rice was estimated at ₦20.51 million. He praised his officers for their swift and professional response and reiterated the Service’s commitment to using intelligence-led operations to fight smuggling.
In a separate enforcement action on July 17, 2025, the Unit handed over unregistered pharmaceutical products and hazardous chemicals to NAFDAC and NESREA in Kaduna. Comptroller Alkali also commended President Bola Tinubu for extending the tenure of Customs CG Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, calling it recognition of his transformative leadership.
