The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has adjourned proceedings in a case challenging the eligibility of former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2027 elections.
The hearing was postponed to Monday, May 11, 2026, at 2:00pm after both the plaintiff and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) failed to appear in court.
The suit, which has drawn political attention ahead of Nigeria’s next general election cycle, is centred on questions surrounding Jonathan’s constitutional eligibility to seek elective office again.
Court officials did not immediately explain the absence of the parties, but the judge ordered the matter to be stood down until the new date.
The case is expected to return to court next week as legal arguments over eligibility continue to attract national scrutiny.
