The governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, says authorities have arrested individuals he described as “fake pastors and bishops,” intensifying a public crackdown on self-proclaimed religious miracle workers.

“We have arrested fake pastors and bishops. Whoever wants to perform a miracle should come to Amaku Hospital,” Soludo said, in remarks that have drawn widespread attention and debate.

The governor’s statement reflects his administration’s growing concern over what it describes as the exploitation of religious beliefs by fraudulent clerics operating across parts of the state.

While details of the arrests were not immediately provided, the comments signal a tougher stance by state authorities on unregulated spiritual practices, with officials increasingly urging residents to seek help from certified medical facilities instead of unverified religious sources.
