Chelsea is reportedly in discussions with Jadon Sancho regarding a new contract that would activate an obligation to buy the winger from Manchester United for £25 million, according to talkSPORT.
The Blues are keen to retain Sancho’s services but are seeking to negotiate a pay cut to align with their incentive-driven wage structure. This move comes just 24 hours after Sancho scored in the Conference League final, helping Chelsea secure their place in history as the first club to win every major European trophy.
Following the victory in Poland, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca hinted that Sancho’s future may lie with the Blues. “We are going to sit with the club and decide what happens for next year,” Maresca said. “If we finish fourth it is also because of Jadon, and if we win tonight it is also because of Jadon. It is normal in a season to go a little bit up and down.”
Before the final, Maresca confirmed that the club would wait until the end of the campaign to make any final decisions on Sancho. “I said that when in the last weeks you asked me about different players, I always said the same,” Maresca added. “And the reason why is because it’s the truth. It’s not the moment; we have the final. Then in 24 hours, 48 hours, we’re going to start to talk about the future. But at this moment, there is not any thought or any decision made on Jadon or any different players.”

Sancho joined Chelsea on a season-long loan last summer, with the deal announced almost 24 hours after the transfer window had closed. The 25-year-old hoped the temporary switch would reignite his career after a frustrating three years with Manchester United, where he registered just 18 goal contributions from 83 league appearances following his £73 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021.
After falling out with United manager Erik ten Hag, Sancho rejoined Dortmund in January this year, scoring three goals to help the German side reach the Champions League final. He returned to United this summer, with Ten Hag stating that the winger would once again be part of his plans. However, with Chelsea now eager to secure Sancho on a permanent basis, he could soon put his tumultuous time at Old Trafford behind him once and for all.
