This week, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will kick off its highly anticipated Governor’s Annual Lecture Series, a flagship knowledge platform set to shape the future of Nigeria’s monetary policy and economic transformation. The inaugural event will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Honeywell Auditorium, Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, starting at 10:00 AM.
The lecture, which carries the theme “Next Generation Leadership in Monetary Policy and Nation Building,” is set to draw thought leaders, policymakers, business executives, academics, and students from across the nation. Hosted by the Lagos Business School, this gathering underscores the pivotal role of monetary policy in advancing economic stability, growth, and nation-building. It is also an integral part of the CBN Governor’s Knowledge Acceleration & Thought Leadership Initiative.

Governor Olayemi Cardoso of the CBN expressed his vision for the lecture series, stating, “This lecture series is an essential step towards creating a broader understanding of monetary policy and its impact on national development. It is designed to promote thought leadership and foster conversations among policymakers, academia, and industry experts, ultimately shaping the next generation of leaders in the nation’s economic policy-making.”
The event, which is expected to become a key annual tradition, will also mark the second anniversary of Governor Cardoso’s leadership at the CBN. Over the past two years, the CBN has focused on reinforcing its efforts to restore investor confidence, enhance transparency, and implement reforms aimed at improving the resilience of Nigeria’s economy.
The CBN has emphasized that the lecture series will not only be an avenue to reflect on the central bank’s efforts but also a platform to explore solutions that would drive Nigeria’s economic progress in the coming years. The gathering will see the convergence of minds committed to fostering robust economic policies that cater to the needs of an evolving global landscape.
Additionally, the lecture series aims to strengthen the public’s understanding of monetary policy, create open discussions on its transmission mechanisms, and facilitate greater engagement between the apex bank and other critical stakeholders in Nigeria’s financial ecosystem.
Nairametrics will be covering the event live as one of the official media partners. Real-time updates, in-depth analyses, and key takeaways will be provided for its audience through its digital platforms.
With Lagos Business School serving as the inaugural host, the event embodies the CBN’s commitment to bridging the gap between policy-making, academia, and real-world business practice, ensuring that the next generation of leaders is well-equipped to handle Nigeria’s economic challenges.
