Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar commended the troops for their courage and professionalism. Their quick action, he said, protected the future of those abducted students.

The rescue showed the military’s “unyielding commitment” to protecting ordinary Nigerians. Atiku added that the bravery and vigilance of security forces keep giving people hope around the country.

The Makurdi–Otukpo road in Benue State has seen serious security problems lately. Criminals regularly target commuters there.

This successful operation gives a real lift to the work aimed at making the route safe again.

Still, Atiku said the rescue, while welcome, shows why Nigeria must strengthen its overall security setup without delay.

“Every Nigerian should be able to travel without fear,” he said. He called for steady support and proper equipment for the forces.

Progress in the country, he added, depends on backing the men and women who risk their lives daily to defend everyone else. He sounded hopeful that the right steps can help Nigeria get on top of its security problems.
