Arsenal stand on the brink of their first Premier League title in 22 years after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over relegated Burnley at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
Kai Havertz scored the match’s sole goal in the 37th minute, heading home a Bukayo Saka corner to secure three vital points for Mikel Arteta’s side. The win lifts Arsenal to 82 points—five clear of second-placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand against Bournemouth on Tuesday.
Arsenal could be crowned champions without playing another league match if City fail to win their midweek fixture.
Following Monday’s triumph, Arteta delivered an emotional tribute to the club’s supporters, expressing gratitude for their role in the team’s transformation. He also looked ahead to the final two league games against Crystal Palace and the upcoming UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest.
“It’s an absolute joy to witness the transformation and the contribution each of you have had to turn this place into the most beautiful place to enjoy and to play our football,” Arteta said.
“This is the soul of this football club, and each of you contribute to that. Make sure every time you step into this stadium you keep it at this standard, because it makes such a difference to all of us and to these players.
“I’ll see you at Selhurst Park and in Budapest. But for this amazing group of players and staff, a big round of applause.”
