Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade have killed three suspected bandits and arrested a suspected logistics supplier during operations in Kabba Bunu and Yagba West Local Government Areas of Kogi State.

On January 3, 2026, acting on credible intelligence about bandits moving from Adankolo toward Agbadu Bunu in Kabba Bunu LGA, troops laid an ambush at a key crossing point. The bandits stumbled into the ambush, leading to a firefight in which two bandits were killed. The army recovered one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, 99 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one locally fabricated gun, and 11 cartridges.

Subsequently, intelligence indicated bandit movement around Saminaka village in Yagba West LGA. Troops, alongside local vigilantes, conducted patrols and engaged an unknown number of bandits, who eventually withdrew into the forest. Troops discovered one neutralized bandit, one AK-47 rifle, and 17 rounds of ammunition during a follow-up search.

Additionally, the army apprehended Sunday Adedotun, a suspected bandit logistics supplier from Odo Eri village, at a farmland in Saminaka. Adedotun claimed to assist farmers in transporting produce. Items found at the site included cartons of energy drinks, soft drinks, bottled water, and harvested farm produce. He is currently in custody and undergoing investigation.

Brigadier-General Kasim Sidi, Commander of 12 Brigade, commended the troops for their professionalism and swift response. He assured the public that the army would continue aggressive, intelligence-driven operations to root out criminal elements and deny them freedom of movement in Kogi State.
