Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals, Bashir Gegu, has publicly declared renewed support for Senator Steve Karimi after a period of political disagreement within the APC.
In a statement released on Friday, Gegu explained that the earlier tension was connected to Senator Karimi’s disagreement with former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, and current Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
According to him:
“My recent disagreement with Distinguished Senator Steve Karimi stemmed from his disagreement with our Supreme Leader, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello and His Excellency Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.”
Gegu reaffirmed his loyalty to both leaders, adding:
“As I have always pledged my total loyalty to our leader, I will continue to follow their direction, Insha Allah.”
The commissioner also disclosed that there is no longer any personal grievance between him and Senator Karimi.
“I bear no personal grudge against DSSK; he has been forgiven by our leaders as such I now wholeheartedly support his re-election bid.”
He further praised Samuel Bamidele Aro for building a strong political structure within a short time and urged his supporters to rally behind the APC ahead of 2027.
Gegu expressed confidence that the APC would record major victories with the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Ododo, and party stakeholders across Kogi State.
The development is being seen as a significant move toward strengthening unity within the Kogi APC ahead of future political contests.
