Senator, Dr Umaru Tanko Al-Makura’s journey in Nigerian politics is a remarkable narrative of resilience, strategy, and a deep-rooted commitment to public service marking him a path finder even in Stormy political waters.

His rise in his early days a teacher to becoming a cum businessman and delving into politics propelled his star in 2011 to clinched the seat of power as governor.

Al-Makura’s must defining characteristics is his unwvering resolve t o contribute his quarter in governance when he made the move to become governor of Nasarawa State, the journey into full time politics was not without hurdles. After an encounter under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Al-Makura demonstrated an uncommon determination and defected to joined the then defunct opposition party, Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) where his uniqueness was unbundled as he unseat a sitting governor.

As the only CPC governor ,senator Almakura worked hard as a partisan party man boosting the ambition of the immediate past president,Mohammad Buhari and planning a merger which became the only possible alliance alongside other political parties that formed APC which dethroned the 16 years rule of the PDP at the National level.

This historic merger gave Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura more feathers and making a shift in the state’s political dynamics. His victory was symbolic of his ability to outsmart the political establishment and redefine the balance of power in Nasarawa.
