Chief Abimbola Ajilesoro, the House of Representatives member for Ife Federal Constituency, has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress, citing internal chaos and what he described as a lack of direction in the PDP.
He made the switch public on the floor of the House on Thursday, July 24, after submitting a formal resignation letter to his ward chairman dated July 22.
Speaking on his defection, Ajilesoro said, “Consistency is the true foundation of trust. Either keep your promises or do not make them.”
He accused the PDP leadership in Osun of confusing the party’s faithful by first considering an alliance with the APC before abruptly backing out. According to him, the mixed signals from the PDP created unnecessary political instability.
“The PDP leadership in Osun had made overtures toward aligning with the progressives, but internal narratives shifted along the way,” he stated.
Ajilesoro, who once held strong ties with the PDP, said he could no longer remain in a party that, in his words, “covertly supports the opposition while presenting a contradictory public stance.”
He declared his full loyalty to President Bola Tinubu and the APC, pledging to work towards their re-election.
“Loyalty to one’s party and its leadership is non-negotiable in my political ideology. I have, therefore, chosen to align fully with the progressive camp and support the re-election of President Tinubu and all the APC candidates across the board,” Ajilesoro said.
