Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared Friday, 14 August, a work-free day for workers across the state.
The declaration is to enable public servants to participate in activities marking the state’s annual Isese Day celebration.
In a statement issued by the state government, the governor directed all public institutions and government offices to observe the holiday.
The government said the decision was aimed at recognising and promoting the cultural heritage of the Yoruba people, while allowing workers to take part in the celebrations.
Governor Adeleke urged residents to celebrate the occasion peacefully and responsibly, while encouraging citizens to uphold the values of unity, tolerance and respect for the state’s diverse cultural traditions.
The governor also wished residents a peaceful and memorable celebration.
Normal official activities are expected to resume on the next working day following the public holiday.
