Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party’s 2027 presidential candidate, has said he would use sellotape to seal FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s mouth if he ever appointed him to his administration.
Adebayo made the remark during an interview on Symfoni TV while discussing governance, the Tinubu administration’s performance, and recent political developments, including the Osun State election.
He praised Wike’s strong work ethic and his infrastructure projects in the Federal Capital Territory, saying previous FCT ministers did far less. According to him, Nigeria would have better infrastructure if state commissioners of works matched Wike’s output. He also acknowledged that contracts under Wike may be inflated and may not provide good value for money, but he maintained that visible work was being done, making travel easier and improving daily life.
Despite the praise, Adebayo criticised Wike as a bad example for Nigerian politics, pointing to his style of public communication and what he called the glorification of force and state power.
