The State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi State, Hon. Tom Zakari, Ph.D., has strongly condemned the violent attack on the party’s Kogi West Senatorial and Lokoja Federal Constituency candidates earlier today, October 3rd, 2026.

The incident occurred in the Gegu-Beki area of Koto-Karfe LGA, where the candidates’ convoy was ambushed, resulting in the destruction of campaign vehicles and materials. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers were unmasked and are alleged to be APC sympathizers acting on the directives of the Kogi State Commissioner for Mineral Resources, Engr. Basiru Gegu.

Reacting to the development, Hon. Zakari noted that this is not an isolated case, citing a similar pattern of violence previously unleashed on ADC members in Ejule, Ofu LGA.

“We are calling on the Kogi State Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to intervene immediately and put an end to this lawlessness,” Zakari stated. “The ADC is a peaceful party, but we will not be intimidated. We are already pursuing legal channels to ensure that both the perpetrators and their sponsors are brought to justice.”

The Chairman urged the teeming supporters of the ADC in Kogi West and across the state to remain calm and law-abiding despite the provocation. He described the APC as a “drowning party” that has lost its connection with the people and is now resorting to violence as a last resort.

“The APC knows they have lost the ground, and their only option now is to cause chaos. Let it be known that such acts of thuggery will no longer be condoned by our members going forward,” he added.
