The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress in Adamawa State, Shehu Kambile, has resigned from his role as Special Assistant to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
Kambile announced the decision on Wednesday in Yola, explaining that the move was deliberate and meant to allow him focus fully on repositioning the ADC as the major opposition force in the state.
He said his appointment came through the Inter-Party Advisory Council arrangement aimed at promoting cooperation among political parties.
According to him, stepping aside has become necessary in order to strengthen the ADC and provide what he described as a “credible alternative” for the people of Adamawa.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Governor Fintiri, but it is time to return to my primary mandate of building a strong and effective opposition,” he said.
Kambile also praised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for his support towards promoting inclusive politics within the party.
He called on ADC members across the state to unite and work together ahead of future political engagements.
