Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu retained him as his running mate ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued following the announcement, Yusuf described Shettima’s emergence as a reflection of the confidence and trust placed in him by President Tinubu, praising the Vice President’s contributions to the administration’s agenda since assuming office.
The Kano governor said the Tinubu-Shettima partnership had demonstrated commitment to addressing national challenges and advancing policies aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians.
Yusuf, while extending his goodwill message, expressed optimism that the continuity of the political partnership would further strengthen governance, unity and development across the country.
Shettima, a former governor of Borno State, became Vice President in 2023 after running alongside Tinubu under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following their victory in the presidential election.
The announcement of the 2027 ticket has continued to generate reactions from political leaders and stakeholders across Nigeria as parties begin preparations ahead of the next general elections.
