Former Kogi West senator Dino Melaye has challenged President Bola Tinubu to a Quranic citation competition following the President’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah, the lesser pilgrimage.

In a post on X on Monday, Melaye said he was ready to compete with Tinubu in a test of Quranic knowledge when the President returned from Saudi Arabia.

“Now that Alhaji Bola Tinubu is in Umrah. Immediately he comes back, I challenge him to a Quranic citation competition with me. No one can mock God. SDM,” he wrote.

The challenge followed a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who shared details of Tinubu’s spiritual activities in Saudi Arabia, including his visit to the Holy Kaaba in Makkah.

Tinubu travelled to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah and was granted access to the sacred site to offer prayers.

In a statement on Monday, the President said his prayers centred on seeking wisdom and resilience to continue serving Nigerians. He added that he believed his prayers had been answered.
