Eight Zamfara State lawmakers who resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) a few weeks ago have resolved to return to the party following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Sunday night.
The lawmakers agreed to work for the APC’s success in the 2027 general election, ending reports of an imminent move to the African Democratic Congress.
Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, led the delegation to Tinubu, accompanied by House of Representatives member Aminu Sani Jaji.
Moves to address the lawmakers’ grievances are underway following the meeting.
Those returning are Aliyu Ango Kagara, representing Talata Mafara South; Ibrahim Tukur Bakura, Bakura; Faruk Musa Dosara, Maradun I; and Bashir Abubakar Masama, Bukkuyum North.
The others are Muktaru Nasiru Kaura, representing Kaura North; Nasiru Abdullahi, Maru North; Bashar Bello, Bungudu West; and Bashar Aliyu, Gummi I.
The eight had been linked to a possible defection to the ADC after leaving the APC, but have now opted to return to the ruling party.
