Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf promised to turn out huge numbers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection in 2027. He said Kano would top every other state in backing the All Progressives Congress.
Yusuf made the promise Saturday in Abuja. He was speaking at the launch of the Arewa for Asiwaju campaign office. He called Kano the North’s strongest voting state and said it would lead the charge.
“Kano, as the leading state with the highest number of votes in Northern Nigeria, will, in sha Allah, lead all Nigerian states to victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with massive turnout in favour of the APC,” the governor said.
He sounded certain the North would line up behind Tinubu’s second term. The Arewa for Asiwaju group, he added, would give them a way to pull supporters together before the 2027 vote.
Yusuf repeated his own full backing for the president. He expects the movement to tighten political links and line up help across the northern states.
Vice President Kashim Shettima told the gathering that support for the government has to match real accountability, decent governance, and results people can feel. He admitted the economy is squeezing citizens right now and said the administration must keep listening.
Security, schools, cutting poverty, and opening up jobs all need steady work, Shettima said.
The Arewa for Asiwaju effort is meant to organize backing for Tinubu and Shettima in the 19 northern states plus the Federal Capital Territory. Former Defence Minister Badaru Abubakar serves as national coordinator.
The launch arrives as politicians start talking and planning more openly for the 2027 elections.
