The Kano State Police Command just notched another solid win in its push against kidnapping and banditry. This one falls under their ongoing ‘Operation Kukan Kura’.

Officers say two suspected bandits were shot dead. They recovered the full ten million naira ransom and freed the hostage unharmed. It all went down in Falgore Forest, Doguwa Local Government Area.

The details came in a statement from Police Public Relations Officer CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa. He released it on Friday, October 17, 2026.

Around midnight on October 17, three suspected bandits stepped out of Falgore Forest. They were believed to be from Maigwanda Village in Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The men had come to pick up the ten million naira demanded for the release of Kabiru Aliyu, a 45-year-old from Falgore Village in Doguwa LGA. He had been taken on September 11.

Once they had the money, the bandits let Aliyu go. He walked away unharmed. But as the three headed back toward their hideout in the forest, local hunters known as ‘Yan Bula’ ambushed them.

Two of the suspects were killed in the clash. The third one escaped, though he was wounded. The hunters seized the entire ransom from the bodies of the dead men.

Early checks identified one of those killed as Dogo Isah. He worked as a commercial motorcycle rider, an okada man, from Maigwanda Village in Kaduna State.

Kano State Police Commissioner CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori thanked the ‘Yan Bula’ hunters. He pointed to their bravery and hard work, which has kept helping Operation Kukan Kura secure the Falgore Forest area and nearby communities.

Bakori immediately ordered the Area Commander, divisional police officers, and tactical teams to sweep the zone. Their job is to hunt down the wounded suspect and recover any weapons the group carried.

Police have already spoken with the freed man, arranged a medical check, and returned him to his family. They told residents they remain committed to protecting lives and property.
