At least 28 people have reportedly been killed in renewed attacks across parts of Plateau State, despite a government-imposed dusk-to-dawn curfew aimed at containing the worsening violence.
The latest attacks were reported in communities in Manga, Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas, according to reports emerging from the state.
The violence comes amid heightened security concerns in Plateau, where authorities have imposed restrictions on movement in some affected areas following a series of deadly attacks.
The Plateau State Government had earlier introduced a curfew from 6pm to 6am in Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu as part of measures to prevent further violence and protect residents. However, the latest killings have raised fresh concerns about the effectiveness of the security measures.
The renewed attacks have also disrupted farming and livestock activities, with residents in affected communities facing growing fears over their safety and livelihoods.
The Nigerian Bar Association in Plateau had previously raised concerns over attacks on communities observing government-imposed curfews, calling for stronger protection of lives and property. (Punch Newspapers)
Authorities have yet to provide a comprehensive official account of the latest death toll or identify those responsible for the attacks.
Security agencies are expected to intensify operations in the affected areas as tension remains high across parts of the state.
